Privacy Policy

Effective August 19, 2026 · Alberta Maple Care Ltd., 440-1919 Sirocco Dr SW, Calgary, AB T3H 4Z8

Alberta Maple Care Ltd. (“we”, “us”) provides nursing-led home care in Calgary and surrounding communities. This website and this policy are directed at residents of Alberta, Canada. We take the privacy of the families we serve seriously, and we keep this policy in plain language on purpose. For information you share through this website, the governing law is Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Two different sets of rules

  • This website — enquiries, the newsletter, and job applications — is governed by Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
  • Client care records — the health information we collect during intake, assessment, and care delivery — are governed by Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA), which sets stricter rules for how health information is collected, used, protected, and shared.
  • Seeing your information: if you ask for access to information we hold under PIPA, we answer within 45 days. If you ask for access to your care records under the HIA, we answer within 30 days.

What we collect on this website

  • Enquiry and booking forms: your name, phone number, email, and the care context you choose to share (for example, who care is for and how it might be funded). We use this only to respond to you and arrange care. If you’re enquiring on behalf of someone else, you confirm you have their authority to share their information — or that you are the parent or guardian of a child you’re enquiring about.
  • Newsletter: your email address, with your express consent under Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL). Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and we record when and how consent was given, along with a truncated network address as evidence of the consent event — deliberately shortened so it can’t identify you.
  • Job applications: the information you provide in your application, used only for recruitment.
  • Site analytics: we run our own first-party measurement — pages viewed, time on page, and which buttons are used — tied to a random browser identifier, not your name. Analytics records do not include your IP address: a full address is used only in the moment to filter bots and abuse, and at most a scrambled, non-reversible token is kept briefly to limit request rates. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not share analytics with ad platforms.

What we deliberately don’t do

  • We never sell or rent your personal information.
  • We don’t run third-party advertising or social-media tracking pixels on this site.
  • We don’t ask for diagnoses, medications, or clinical details on this website. The funding stream and care context you choose to share on the enquiry form can still be sensitive, and we treat it that way — it goes only to the small team arranging your care. Full health details are gathered during our intake and assessment process, under the confidentiality that clinical care and the Health Information Act require. Please don’t share personal health details over WhatsApp or email — we’ll collect them securely once we connect.

Cookies and browser storage

We use a small amount of browser storage to make the site work and to power our own analytics: a session identifier so we can understand a visit as one visit, and standard WordPress cookies if you log in or submit a form. No cross-site tracking cookies are set by us.

Who processes your information

Your information lives on our own website systems. If you choose to message us on WhatsApp, that conversation is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own terms. Email you send us is processed by our email provider (Google). We share information beyond that only when the law requires it.

How we protect your information

Everything you send through this website travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to enquiries and applications is limited to the staff who need them to respond to you, behind individual accounts. Everyone who works with us signs confidentiality obligations that cover personal and health information alike.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: kept for at least one year and no more than three years after our last contact with you.
  • Newsletter: kept until you unsubscribe; the consent record itself is kept as CASL requires.
  • Analytics: kept for three years.
  • Job applications: unsuccessful applications are kept for one year, then deleted.
  • Client care records: retained per Alberta health record retention requirements — these are not deleted on request, because health law requires us to keep them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can withdraw consent at any time, on reasonable notice — unsubscribe from any email with one click, or contact us and we’ll take care of it. Some records — particularly care records — must be kept under Alberta health legislation and our funding agreements even after consent is withdrawn. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

If something goes wrong

If a privacy incident creates a real risk of significant harm to you, PIPA requires us to notify the Alberta Information and Privacy Commissioner without unreasonable delay, and to notify you as required. We would rather tell you plainly and fix it than hope you don’t notice.
