How do you protect our health information?
We follow Alberta’s HIA—collecting/using only what’s necessary, documenting consent, and sharing information with your care team under the Act’s rules (with limited, specific circumstances for disclosure).
What infection-prevention steps do you follow during early recovery?
We apply Routine Practices on every visit (point-of-care risk assessment, hand hygiene, risk-based PPE, and cleaning of any devices and high-touch surfaces we used), per AHS community guidance.
How do you manage infection prevention during visits?
We apply AHS Routine Practices every visit (hand hygiene, risk-based PPE, cleaning of high-touch items we used), which are required in all care settings to help break the chain of infection.
What infection-prevention steps do you follow during visits?
We use Routine Practices every time—hand hygiene, risk-based PPE, and cleaning/disinfection of any devices and high-touch surfaces we used—per AHS guidance for community settings.
How is my information protected?
We collect and use the minimum necessary to provide care and share updates only with consent or as allowed by Alberta’s Health Information Act, which gives you rights to access and correction.
What information do you keep and how is it protected?
Care notes are limited to what’s necessary to provide service and are handled under Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA); clients have rights to access and correction.
How do you manage infection prevention in the home?
We follow AHS Routine Practices—hand hygiene, risk-based PPE, and cleaning of touched surfaces/devices—applied to every client, in all care settings, every time.
Do I need a physician referral to see a podiatrist?
Not necessarily. The provincial podiatry college indicates you can self-refer for many foot-related concerns; however, for surgical interventions, we will help assemble a clear referral package to a podiatric surgeon if needed.
What if I have numbness or tingling in my feet?
These symptoms may reflect peripheral neuropathy, which is common in conditions such as diabetes. We will screen your risk level and liaise with your primary clinician; while lifestyle and medical strategies can mitigate progression, establishing protective foot-care routines is essential to prevent complications.
Do you treat ingrown toenails?
We manage mild cases conservatively through education, straight-across trimming, spacing/off-loading, and infection monitoring. Moderate–severe or recurrent ingrown nails, signs of infection, or significant pain are referred to podiatry for advanced procedures, such as partial avulsion or matrixectomy, as outlined by Alberta consumer guidance.
