Condition support

Parkinson’s care at home

Parkinson’s changes week to week, and good home care has to change with it. Our nursing-led team supports Calgary-area families living with Parkinson’s — steady daily routines, safe mobility, medication timing, and a registered nurse who adjusts the plan as symptoms evolve. We work alongside your neurologist and care team, never instead of them.

Timing is everything

Parkinson’s medication only works when it’s taken on schedule — and ‘on schedule’ can mean five precise times a day. Our caregivers build visits around your medication routine, watch for on/off changes worth reporting, and keep your medical team’s plan on track at home.

Moving safely, staying active

Freezing, shuffling, and balance changes make falls the biggest daily risk. We support safe transfers and walking, keep pathways clear, encourage the movement and exercise routines your physiotherapist recommends, and help with the slow-motor tasks — dressing, buttons, meals — that eat up energy and dignity.

Support that grows with the condition

Early on, a few hours a week keeps independence intact. Later, care can extend to personal care, overnight support, and eventually palliative care — same team, same nurse accountable, no starting over with a new provider at every stage.

The services families combine most

Not sure which mix fits? That’s exactly what the free in-home visit is for — a nurse assesses, explains options including CDHCI funding, and builds the plan with you.

This page is general information about home-care support, not medical advice. Care plans are built with your family and, where you choose, alongside your physician, Assisted Living Alberta case manager, and therapy team.
